Thank you from Competition Winner says it all!I and my team are delighted and proud to have recieved a letter from the winner of the EFDPA Performer of the year 2008 Miss Nicola Priestley from Stocksbridge near sheffield. Nicola also received a £150 dancewear voucher donated by Barry Johnson of Mantonian Dancewear in Hull. You know you have hit the spot and done a good job when comments are received like this from the children who have taken part. The European Festival of Dance and Perfoming Arts created to bring together novice and amateur dancers and performers nationwide was a truly amazing and humbling experience for all of us involved. Humbling Experience I am Glad to be a Part Of!
Our adjudicator Mrs Wendy Cowan F.I.D.T.A examiner and adjudicaotr commented " The target you had aimed for in the competitors had been hit and the children showed a passion for their given task I have not seen before", "it was quite humbling to be a part of the event". Wendy said "I have enjoyed every minute and met some lovely people", "I was glad to be a part of the event and touched by the teachers dedication to their pupils" more so when Ladybird Borland from the Ladybird and Sara J School commented to Wendy "she was not only proud that her girls had won awards but amazed that she herself had won the first award in her life, when her school won the Open Category Choreography Shields for both her Inter and Senior Groups" Passion for Dance uncovered
The talent and the passion displayed by the competitors and the dedication to their pupils shown by the teachers was heartwarming. Each of the schools cheered on the other, and social interaction between the schools resulted in firm friends being made. Young Lily Buck dancing in the Junior Ballet Challenge was given a hug from another competitor as Lily had replied "no", when asked if anyone else from her school was competing in the section. Children from all over the UK came along not knowing what to expect at the first ever event and will take away with them memories they will treasure of their once in a lifetime experience in Disneyland Resort Paris. | | Liverpool TripSaturday 6th September 2008 With only 33 days to the European Festival of Dance and Performing Arts next month, I travelled to Liverpool this weekend to renew my passport in time for my trip to the Disneyland Resort Paris. Whilst there I happened to be around to see La Princesse the Giant mechanical spider created by La Machine. The spider which is the highlight of Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations was due to crawl through the city of Liverpool among crowds of spectators.. |
