About Miss Dance of Great Britain

The 35th Grand final of the IDTA Miss Dance of Great Britain took place on June 8th this year at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.  Dance teachers, pupils and families turned out to watch 52 finalists compete for the title won by Miss Kirby Campbell.

Miss Dance heats are held at 53 festivals throughout the UK over a 12 month period and the heat winners then go on to compete in the Grand Finals In June of each year. The winner of the title takes home the Miss Dance of Great Britain trophy and £1,000 prize money. The established event has launched many of it's winners onto a career in the West End including 2004 winner Alicia Peacock who went on to star in We Will Rock You 2008.

Entry Eligibility Miss Dance and Master Dance 

Entry Fee: approx £5.00

Entry via: Heat qualification (see list of 53 UK festival heats)

To qualify to take part for the next final, competitors must be 16 years or over on 31 May 2009, and
will be required to give a performance at a recognised festival heat, in Modem Dance (which may included
Tap) for a maximum of three minutes in which dance shall dominate but may include song, dialogue, instrumentation or comedy.

Classical ballet, character or national are not permitted.

Ideally the dance should not be the same dance prepared for `E' modem. 

On qualifying the competitor will then take part in the final in Blackpool in June 2009.

The Miss Dance of Great Britain Finals organised by the I.D.T.A. will be held in Blackpool Winter Gardens in
June 2009. The winner and runner-up will receive prize money and a trophy awarded by the International Dance Teachers' Association. 

Prize

Miss Dance of Great Britain Title, £1,000, Trophy, Sash and a bouquet of flowers

Runner Up £500 and a specially presented red rose

3rd Place £300 and a specially presented red rose

the remaining finalists each win £100 and specially presented red rose

 

Additional awards are presented

The John Dilworth Bursary in memory of the event founder £200 for most promising.

The Ros Wicks Bursary in memory of her dedication to the event £100 awarded for vocal potential

The Peggy Harrison Award presented to the Winner of Miss Dance Of Great Britain

 

About Dance Master UK

The 7th Grand final of Dance Master UK brought together 11 young men from all over the UK to compete for the 2008 title. Dance Master finalists have a huge female fan base and the cheers, screams and wolf whistles belied our feelings that this will grow into a very watchable event in forthcoming years.  

Entrants for the Dance Master 2009 heats must be aged 16 years on 31st May 2009 to enter the Regional Heats held prior to the event at the 53 recognised dance festivals throughout the UK. Entry fee approx £5.

3rd Place £150

 

About International Ballet Championships 

The Junior and Senior International Ballet Championship semi finals are held at various dance festivals throughout the UK in a 12 months run up, prior to the Grand Finals in Blackpool every June.

Entries are accepted from pupils who have achieved a standard and age requirement set by organisers IDTA .
