Helpful Hints Guide for Auditions here we have compiled a helpful guide to auditions to ensure you are prepared for any eventuallity. It is important to be early or on time, have your CV, protfolio and showreel music at hand and be well rested (even though you may be too excited or nervous) before you set off.
- Ensure you are up early and arrive well before your call. There is nothing worse than arriving late all hot and bothered. A reliable alarm clock is essential once you start entering the audition circle and make sure you charge up your mobile phone and have credit on it in case you get lost.
 - Be well prepared when attending an audition, you should take along a type written CV and include details of all work, awards and achievements attained to present date including TV appearances, Shows etc. If you have an agent you should include their details, your personal details, height and measurements etc and take along a photo, preferably a black & white 10" x 8" professional headshot. A CD or Showreel is advisable for Cruise Ship or Theatre / Show auditions.
 - Suggested dancewear - go prepared with comfortable jazz pants and top or leotard, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes and stage shoes. It is advisable to be comfortably dressed and hair neatly fastened back or away from your face and ensure you have suitable footwear.
- Singers / Dancers / Musicians always ensure you have copies of your music or backing tracks and sheet music is better on a single manuscript.
- Take along a drink and a couple of sandwiches as you may have to queue for a while if not all day for popular auditions like theatre shows, cruise auditions and talent competitions like xfactor, britains got talent, idol uk, uk live and unsigned etc. etc.
- Always ensure you take a coat and umbrella if you are likely to queue outside during the autum / winter months and a hat and suncream in the summer.
- Be prepared to come away without making it to the audition stage, especially if there are lots of entrants. This is where your CV, CD, photo and showreel come in handy to hand over if time runs out.
- Don't be disappointed if you don't get a call back, no tears or tantrums, you did your best and most of the time it is not down to you personally, you could have been the last in, had a bad day or there were too many exceptionally talented people to fill the required places. Simply put it down to experience and when you come to go for another audition you will learn to be better prepared or more relaxed or even early enough to be ahead of the queue having learned the ropes! so to speak. The idea is to gain as much experience as possible and pick up hints and tips from other auditionees and learn how to get it right for the next time. Remember you can't please all of the people all of the time. Passion and enthusiasm for your field of dance or song will shine through and eventually you will have your chance.
Good luck to all who venture on the audition path in all fields of Dance, Music, Drama and Performing Arts and if we can help in any way you only have to ask.
