Dearne FM 'Sing for Barnsley'After days of waiting anxiously for the votes to come in after reaching the final, we can now confirm 15yr old Kelsey Ellison a year 11 pupil at Kingstone School is the winner of 'Sing for barnsley' run by Dearne FM. She will now perform live on stage at the switch on of Barnsley Christmas Lights in November.
Girl of many talentsThe multi-talented teenager, a junior associate member of SLP college in Garforth, has been attending the Lisa Thornely School of Dance for 12 years, competing in local dance festivals all around South Yorkshire. Four years ago, Kelsey joined Take 2 Academy Theatre in Birdwell where she has had both prinicipal, and dancing roles in most of their productions, the most recent being 'High School Musical', she will also be dancing in their production of 'Chess' in November. Singing lessons with Take 2's musical director Helen Owen over the last 3 years, have certainly paid off. Kelsey who won the Take 2 'Academy Idol' when she was 12 also auditioned for X-Factor earlier this year. Kelsey who has many musical talents has played the clarinet since she was 10 and piano for just 18 months. Dearne FM announced the winner on their breakfast show yesterday morning, I was informed just after 10.30am by her mum Carole who is an all4danceanddrama registered user, via our websites instant messaging service.
Ambition and determination!Kelsey would like to attend SLP College full time next year (would you like to sponsor or part sponsor Kelsey through college see her story). Her ambition is to perform in the West End, her dream will be realised, when she will dance on stage with her sister Abbi at Her Majesty's Theatre on the 29th October 2007 as part of the IDTA's Showcase, the girls will perform in a group from the Lisa Thornley School of Dance. Her proud mum Carole commented ''She now has the chance to dance on the West End at least once in her lifetime!'' The All 4 Dance and Drama Team wish Kelsey success and hope that her ambition will turn into a reality following her college years All 4 Dance and Drama's AimOur aim is to raise awareness, unearth and showcase passion and talent in children of all ages, to encourage and support by providing information, help and advice where possible.
